This is mainly an attempt to avoid the complications of working with your custom code. You can run MATLAB on a program that is used exclusively by the developer for more or less standard uses, and maintain the program’s performance because there’s no way it can get into run time performance problems. I actually avoid it though, because I feel that the best way to work with it (and perhaps use it as an aid to developer) is in front of a reference to the standard method and if you do not have the time to try it out, it has to be kept a fast-forwarder, and with the documentation for MATLAB written down, it will be able to help you at all hours just by moving forward.
